SteveA man with a giant heart, Steve Exceen is the founder of Ride for 22. He is a Marine Veteran and single father of a beautiful little girl who is his joy. Riding is his release from the real world. He says, “there really isn’t one word that can describe how it feels to ride. If there were, it would be FREEDOM.” Steve’s life took a shift when a fellow Marine (a good friend) took his life. From that moment, he knew he had to do something to make a difference. Steve does that by helping raise awareness for Veteran Suicide and by helping families that have been left behind. Since starting Ride for 22 he has done that in a big way, including getting states to recognize April as Veteran Suicide Awareness month. We are very grateful that Steve has found a release and a way to help. He is saving lives, every day.
This portrait was purchased for Steve's mother. A copy of it continues to travel with Jessica and the Words Matter exhibit. |
