Days 145-162
Well, I got sick. Jordan actually had it first...he started feeling under the weather in Miami...we decided that we would quarantine ourselves for a bit. Just in case. All the world is going crazy over Coronavirus. We didn't really start to see the effects of it until our last week in Biloxi...then it was obvious at the grocery store that people were panicking. Why on earth are they buying up ALL the eggs? There was still bread, TP (at least RV TP) and everything we needed (although the meat selection was getting a bit low). All the normal things you'd expect to be bought up in a panic...canned goods, pasta, etc. Not eggs? Oh well, we finally found some at a CVS. We are now in Alabama. We walked the beach (where there were a ton of people...then the next day the city announced it was closing the parking lots at the beach) and decided we better get the groceries we needed today. We found most everything we needed and can say we are sufficiently stocked (minus things that will have to be restocked like milk, eggs, and of course there was no bread here.) So, if we need to lay low for a bit, we are set. It's such a bizarre experience to be away from what you knew as home in times like this. I'm trusting that we will receive everything we need ... so far on this whole new life adventure, everything we need has been provided... so why start to worry now. "When we stop struggling to make something go the way we want it to, our energy shifts. We surrender to what is, and as hard as it may be, we become willing to face the facts - and we become more present." ~Danielle LaPorte, The Desire Map The truth is, you can't change what's happening. Unless you are in a toxic relationship...then you can change that...there are places and people who can help...there is no reason to stay in that. But, other than that, things will happen. It is up to you to decide how you will deal with them. Will you live in the victim mentality, full of fear and anxiety, or will you choose to face the facts and find a way to live through the circumstance at peace? It is your choice. Really it is. Your reaction to the things around you can literally change your life. The more you focus on what you are missing...the more you will be missing. We are in a nice quiet spot in Alabama. Both of us have noticed the "southern comfort." We feel at home. The difference between us and a lot of the other RVers we are meeting is that we ARE home, wherever we are. We don't have a house to go back to (well, we have places back in Idaho we can return to and park...but you know what I mean). This is our life, so it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out. We are watching the news, I am watching RV groups, just making sure that when it is time to move on...there will be a place for us to go. Most government run camping grounds are being shut down...but many of the snowbirds and part time RVers are returning home now...opening up space at the privately owned RV campgrounds. So, as of now, we will continue in our adventure. We took a boat ride out to Ship Island off of the Biloxi shore. On our way out, we passed a cruise ship that was full of the crew and that is it. We were happy we got one hoorah in before everything was shut down (the next day the Casinos mentioned they'd be shutting down so I'm sure tours like the one we went on will shut down soon as well). These are odd times indeed. I challenge all of you to stay high vibe and choose to focus on the good...focus on what you have instead of what you are missing out on. Honestly, this might be a test for all mankind to focus on what is truly important. The thing that DOES really irk me is that we won't be able to find live music any time soon. I will miss that and my heart truly goes out to all the musicians who are losing money due to venues shutting down. We will all have to take a look at the way we live...but shouldn't we be doing that anyway? I am hopeful that this will be a short lived chaos. But, we never know. We can only control ourselves and how we react to it. The rest is an adventure. I wish you all good health and peace. I am going to start drawing live on FB again to give you something to do if you are in quarantine. But, I challenge you to spend this time on personal growth instead of on endless, mindless scrolling. The world will still be there. The chaos will still be there. You don't have to let it into your every waking hour. Much love and light to you all! Talk to you again sooner than this last time. :)
